It was music that drew them together at Visible Music College, a progressive arts college – and while drawn to each other’s talent, they came to realize the overlapping nature of their hearts. It was in Carolina, on a camping trip, where the love story really began. You can hear the euphoria in the way their voices rise and merge. Ben, dusky, dusty and earthy; Emily, sunny, velvety, lush. Traveling America in a Prius named Minnie Pearl, an American Tourister suitcase for a drum and dreams that outfuel their hybrid ride, Carolina Story is the rapture of being young, gifted and willing.
Since 2009, Carolina Story have been hard at work touring, writing and putting out music they believe in; each release astonishingly better than the last. Starting as starry-eyed newlyweds ready for the road ahead with their self-titled debut and evolving into wise road-worn troubadours on their album, Home, they have the ability to turn an insightful phrase at a moment’s notice.
Carolina Story: Chapter One and Chapter Two marks the emergence of a sound that is acoustic, but bold. Both albums were produced by Grammy-winner Blake Chancey (Dixie Chicks, David Allen Coe, Mary Chapin Carpenter) and the songs demonstrate the sustaining power of love, the depths of yearning and the legacy our lives beget -- delivered with the kind of swirling, seamless harmonies that make two seem as one.
Ben and Emily made their Grand Ole Opry debut on June 28, 2014.
The future for Carolina Story is limitless. The sincerity and humanity of their music makes them stand out among even the best.
