Mini skirts, midriffs, knee-highs, and fringe… when a young Jeannie Seely first stepped onto the Opry stage, these looks were a brand-new sight for the audience. Nashville in the late ’60s and early ’70s wasn’t quite used to the California spirit Jeannie brought with her—but that didn’t stop her. She took the stage with fearlessness, stirring up plenty of conversation along the way.

Over the years, Jeannie went on to perform at the Opry more than any other artist—5,397 times, to be exact. Her daring fashion sense became her signature and helped reshape the image of female country stars for a generation of fans. Today, when you see bold, fashion-forward women lighting up the Opry stage, you can trace that confidence back to Jeannie’s first steps.

When we celebrated the Opry House’s 50th anniversary in 2024, Jeannie stopped in to look back on some of her most iconic styles. Now, as we mark her first Opry anniversary since her passing, we invite you to take a walk down memory lane with our one-and-only “Miss Country Soul.”
