BY LANE VAUGHN

Country music lives at the Grand Ole Opry House.

Onstage, country icons and rising artists share the mic during a two-hour show that’s always live, always new, and always unforgettable. With over 4,000 seats and top-notch acoustics, there truly isn’t a bad seat in the house.

But the real magic often happens backstage. In the Family Room, artists gather to swap stories, sip on lemonade, and soak in the environment. In themed dressing rooms, they warm up, laugh with bandmates, and settle in before the curtain rises. Letters from fans arrive at the working backstage post office, where artists still check their mail before stepping onstage.

An Opry Backstage Tour takes you into the heart of it all.

FOUR WAYS TO GO BACKSTAGE

Choose the tour that fits your style: explore backstage by day, step behind the curtain after a live show, celebrate the legendary ladies who shaped the genre, or go all-in and see the Opry like a VIP. However you tour, you’ll get an insider’s look at the iconic venue where history is made, night after night.

If you’re looking for iconic Nashville things to do, put this at the top of your list.

DAYTIME TOUR

Before performers arrive for the evening, see the Opry from their point of view.

Walk the same path they take—starting at the check-in desk where every artist begins their night, and stopping by the Member Gallery where plaques of each inducted Opry member hang. (Check out the newest members inducted during Opry 100: Steve Earle, Kathy Mattea, Suzy Boggus, and Jelly Roll!)

Step into the Family Room, where new technology brings murals and portraits to life to tell the Opry story. Explore themed dressing rooms, rehearsal spaces, and memorabilia that hold decades of history. Then step onto the legendary stage and take your photo inside the Opry circle—a spot where countless artists have stood, dreamed, debuted.

POST-SHOW TOUR

After the curtain falls, the story continues.

Enjoy your Opry show, then head backstage right after the final bows into an environment buzzing with late‑night energy. And while it’s never guaranteed, it’s not unusual for tour groups to get a wave or a quick hello from the evening’s performers.

Sometimes, the stars align for a perfect fan‑and‑artist moment, like this one between Opry member Ashley McBryde and young fan Sawyer June.
