A guide to Nashville’s best blooms, al fresco dining, and more to make the most of your spring visit.

Shenanigoats Yoga
As if yoga itself weren’t therapeutic enough, baby goats are at your aid to make practice even more enjoyable (and entertaining!). While you’re in downward dog, don’t be surprised if a friend hops on your back or nibbles on the grass at your feet. We can’t think of a better way to spend a cool spring morning.

Centennial Park
A full-scale replica of the Parthenon sits in the middle of West End’s Centennial Park pays homage to Nashville’s original moniker, “The Athens of the South.” The sprawling park serves as a great location for a picnic lunch. An excellent art museum is located inside the Parthenon; venture inside to see a 42-feet-tall gold sculpture of Athena.

Tin Pan South
Any country song worth its salt tells a good story. Celebrate the craft of songwriting during Tin Pan South, the world’s largest songwriters festival, which takes place the first week of April. In venues across town, enjoy intimate sets from the likes of Lori McKenna, Carly Pearce, Travis Denning, and Bob DiPiero as audiences have done in years past.

Belle Meade Plantation
While the Kentucky Derby takes place a few hours north of Nashville, you can roam the grounds where famous horses like Secretariat and Seabiscuit can trace their lineage. In May, enjoy Iroquois Steeplechase at Percy Warner Park and celebrate Nashville’s horse-racing legacy with a mint julep and wide-brimmed hat.

Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival
In celebration of Japanese culture, more than 1,000 cherry blossom trees are planted around Music City. While you can catch them in bloom for a couple of weeks each spring, the Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival — which is a day full of music, dance, dog parades, sumo suit wrestling, and plenty of good eating — is the highlight of the season.

Full Moon Pickin' Parties
May marks the return of Nashville’s Full Moon Pickin’ Parties. In warm months on Fridays closest to the full moon, jam out to the sounds of banjos and guitars, mandolins and fiddles, dobros and dulcimers. Got an instrument of your own? Anyone can pick and play at this event that honors bluegrass and roots music while raising money to protect local parks.

Cheekwood in Bloom
The grounds at Cheekwood Estate & Gardens are aflame with pink, yellow, and orange each spring as thousands of tulips, daffodils, and friends are in full bloom. Take part in a tour of the garden or mansion, and on weekends, enjoy the beer garden and food trucks.

Night Market
With indoor and outdoor food stalls, the top-notch Nashville Farmers’ Market is fun to explore even once the sun goes down. On the third Friday of each month, restaurants and shops stay open late for a night market, and visitors can enjoy live music and drinks from a cash bar.

Patio Dining
Nashville is just as much a brunch city as it is a music city. Enjoy the springtime sunshine and your eggs sunny-side up at a brunch spot with a great patio. Acme Feed & Seed, The Southern Steak & Oyster, and M.L.Rose offer some the best al fresco dining experiences in town.
