Lucas Leon
Artist Information
Lucas Leon was born and raised in Gallatin, Tennessee, just 30 minutes north of Nashville. Growing up near music city, he began playing piano at six years old and picked up guitar shortly after, quickly falling in love with songwriting and performance. “The first song I learned on guitar was Chris Stapleton’s ‘Millionaire,’” says Leon. Since then, he’s become a sought-after songwriter, penning more than 200 songs over the past two years while honing his craft alongside some of Nashville’s finest. His talent recently took him to a national audience, earning a spot in the Top 9 on Season 24 of American Idol, capped by a featured performance alongside country superstar Brad Paisley.
During his American Idol run, Leon earned high praise from the judges and music legends alike. Lionel Richie said, “I almost forgot that you were a contestant.” Luke Bryan told him, “You were ready to be a star,” while Carrie Underwood praised how “entertaining” he was behind the piano. Brad Paisley summed up what makes Leon unique, saying, “It sounds like you, and that’s hard to do.”
With a sound rooted in country and blues, Leon combines the raw, honest vocals of Tyler Childers and Chris Stapleton with the musicianship of artists like Keith Urban and John Mayer, while influences like Ray Charles add a soulful edge. Reminiscent of a young Taylor Swift in his drive, songwriting instinct and natural likability, Leon has the rare combination of talent and determination to match his ambition. He isn’t interested in chasing a trend—he wants to build a sound and career that lasts. “There is no Plan B,” Leon says, and he means it.
