Jonathan began his career as a young actor on General Hospital, where he played the role of Lucky Spencer on and off for nearly 20 years. His time on the show landed him five Daytime Emmy Awards and the key to his then-costar, now-wife's heart. Jonathan and his wife since 2002, Lisa Vultaggio, are the proud parents of three children.
Jonathan was cast in numerous notable films throughout his years at General Hospital, including Tuck Everlasting, Deep End of the Ocean, and Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, among others.
Jonathan lives out his passion for music as the frontman of Enation, an American rock band. The band entered the music scene in 2004 as they released their first album, Identity Thief, and their most recent album, My Ancient Rebellion, was released in 2011. The group has won several competitions, which has led to major national exposure—even a NY Times Square billboard on display for a month. Enation's music has been featured on General Hospital, One Tree Hill, MTV.com and more.
In Jonathan's most recent role on Nashville, he has found a perfect niche to combine his musical and acting skills.
"It's amazing to do this type of show, and for me it's incredible!" he said. "I have had conversations with my brother, and even my father who said to me a few years ago, 'You know, what if there were a show about a young musician? And you guys should write that!' And I said, 'Yeah, that would be great. But … do you have any idea how hard it is to get a show on the air?' And then, this show happened. It's crazy!
"I love Avery's artistic passion," adds Jonathan. "I love his humor and sarcasm. I like his wardrobe. I like the fact that he makes decisions and then struggles with them. He's not static. He's a constant whirlwind just beneath the surface."
Jonathan made his Grand Ole Opry debut on the same night as his Nashville costars, Lennon and Maisy Stella, on December 15, 2012 at the historic Ryman Auditorium. Since then, he has graced the Opry stage many times.
