Artist Information
A Raleigh, North Carolina native, Blake Pendergrass studied commercial music at Belmont University. At the end of 2020, Pendergrass received word he earned a coveted spot on Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album with “865.” At the time, he was the only un-signed writer on the 30-song project. Pendergrass signed an exclusive, worldwide publishing agreement with Back Blocks Music as the flagship songwriter in 2021.
Pendergrass went on to earn eight songs on Morgan Wallen’s One Thing At A Time album, including “Dying Man” and “Ain’t That Some,” moving on to have 15 cuts on Wallen’s latest album, I’m The Problem, including a 100% solo write, “The Dealer (feat. ERNEST).” Along with eight country radio singles, Pendergrass has earned seven No. 1 songs; Wallen’s “20 Cigarettes,” “Don’t We,” “I Got Better” and “Just In Case,” Jelly Roll’s “Heart Of Stone,” Jordan Davis and Thomas Rhett’s “Ain’t A Bad Life” and Tucker Wetmore’s “Brunette.”
Now an ACM-nominated Songwriter of the Year and a writer on three Grammy-nominated albums with Lainey Wilson’s “Broken Hearts Still Beat,” Post Malone’s “Who Needs You,” Conner Smith’s “Steal My Thunder (feat. Tucker Wetmore) [From Twisters: The Album],” Pendergrass co-wrote seven songs on Jelly Roll’s Grammy-winning album, Beautifully Broken. Pendergrass’ songwriting totals over 1 billion total streams with recordings by Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Thomas Rhett, Jordan Davis, ERNEST, HARDY, Chase Matthew, Ashley Cooke, Nate Smith, Dylan Marlowe, Wyatt Flores, Dustin Lynch, Chase Rice, Jake Owen and more.
Most recently, Pendergrass celebrated his first CMA Triple Play Award (“Just In Case,” “Heart of Stone” and “I Got Better”), while the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) revealed Pendergrass will receive the Songwriter of the Year Award at the September 2026 event.
