Tuesday, February 24 was the kind of night you can only experience at the Opry. The house was packed for a one-of-a-kind Nashville show celebrating the iconic Ronnie Milsap’s remarkable 50 years as an Opry member.

As we honored the six-time GRAMMY winner, the Opry did what it’s done for a century—bringing together the past, present, and future of country music on one legendary stage.

A few hours before showtime, media gathered inside the Opry House for another milestone moment: the reveal of the Opry NextStage Class of 2026. The nine rising artists represent country’s next wave, each carving their own path while honoring the genre’s roots.

WSM Radio announcer Kelly Sutton led a Q&A with the new class, joined by NextStage alum Ella Langley and Opry member Vince Gill, who shared some words of wisdom with the young artists-on-the-rise.

“This place always has your back,” Vince said. “You’re our future. We’re going to be welcoming out here. That’s what’s beautiful about this place…everybody’s willing to share. Therein lies the reason it’s 100 years old.”

By showtime, the celebration shifted into high gear. Ella and Vince were joined by Opry members Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Trace Adkins, and Mark Wills—hitmakers who defined the aughts—each performing favorites from Ronnie’s catalogue, including “Any Day Now” and “Stranger In My House.”

With just her guitar, Ella Langley gave a stunning rendition of "I Wouldn't Have Missed It For The World," dedicated to her dad who was present in the audience. Ella grew up listening to Ronnie’s music, and you can hear those ‘80s influences in her new singles ahead of her anticipatory sophomore album. She performed one of those singles, “Choosin’ Texas,” which recently hit No 1. on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The night hit its peak when the legend himself sat down at the piano for “Smoky Mountain Rain,” and in a moving surprise, The TN School for the Blind’s Jazz Band took the stage to perform “Snap Your Fingers.” The show closed with performers returning for a heartfelt all-sing of “What a Difference You’ve Made in My Life.”

With more than 35 No. 1 hits to his name, Ronnie’s contributions to country music are unmatched. His influence has shaped generations of artists—and nights like this prove it. This multi-generational celebration is what the Opry does best: honoring its history, showcasing today’s stars, and lighting the way for what’s next.
