Jordan McCullough
Artist Information
Jordan McCullough is a vocalist, worship leader, and songwriter from Murfreesboro, Tennessee — and the Runner-Up of American Idol Season 24, whose powerful voice and deep-rooted faith carried him from the church choir to the national stage. Over the course of one season on the ABC competition series, McCullough’s performances and unshakeable presence drew comparisons from the judges’ panel that any rising vocalist would dream of hearing.
The son of Murfreesboro and a graduate of Oakland High School, McCullough was raised in a Christian family just outside Nashville and began singing in church at age four. That early start shaped everything that followed. He developed his voice in the church tradition, and discovered a calling that would eventually define his career.
In 2026, McCullough auditioned for Season 24 of American Idol with a rendition of “Goodness of God” that earned him a standing ovation and a Golden Ticket from judges Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie. “You’ve been given an incredible gift,” Underwood told him on the audition floor. “The first two words out of your mouth gave me chills.” He advanced through Hollywood Week into the Top 20 Ohana Round in Hawaii, where his emotional performance of Bill Withers’ “Grandma’s Hands” — dedicated to his family — earned him a coveted Platinum Ticket. From there, his run only deepened: a rendition of “Colors of the Wind” so moving that guest Jennifer Hudson removed both her shoes and threw them onto the stage; a Queen-fueled “Somebody to Love” during Rock & Roll Hall of Fame week; and a finale performance of “Dear God” by Smokie Norful that left Lionel Richie declaring, “you are a teacher, you are a preacher, and you’re a helluva singer.”
At the live grand finale on May 11, 2026, McCullough performed alongside guest mentor Alicia Keys and worship-pop icon Tori Kelly, ultimately finishing as the Season 24 Runner-Up. The week prior, his hometown of Murfreesboro celebrated him with a parade through downtown followed by a homecoming concert at the Richard Siegel Soccer Complex. Reflecting on the finale, McCullough said simply: “I’m just thinking I’m the kid that walked in ready to audition for Luke, Lionel and Carrie. And you’re telling me I was the runner-up of American Idol? I’m waiting to wake up because that just can’t be the truth.”
Blending gospel, soul, and inspirational influences, McCullough’s music is rooted in real-life experience, faith, and a commitment to genuine connection. His goal, on stage and off, is simple: to use his voice to tell honest stories that leave listeners encouraged, inspired, and seen.
Looking ahead, McCullough says, “I’m stepping into this next chapter with a lot of gratitude and excitement. I’m working on new music that feels honest to who I am as an artist, and I’m looking forward to connecting with people through live performances and sharing stories that mean something.”
