If you’ve got a packed itinerary during your visit to Nashville, fuel up at one of the city’s many unique coffee shops.

Frothy Monkey

Centered around a “friendly neighbor” philosophy, Frothy Monkey provides more than just a place to get your daily caffeine fix. Frothy Monkey roasts its own beans and cultivates direct relationships with many of the farmers who grow them. If you love drip coffee, try the 12South blend, a homage to Frothy Monkey’s original location. You can even take a bag home of this smooth roast, which makes an excellent souvenir.

8th & Roast

Since its founding in 2009, 8th & Roast has been bringing ethically sourced coffee to the ever-growing Melrose neighborhood. Since the coffeehouse carefully selects its beans, much of which are sourced from Central America, there’s no need to load up your pour-over with sugar or cream. Simply appreciate the beauty of the bean. Just like their coffee syrups that go into popular drinks like the vanilla latte, 8th & Roast’s food is scratch-made, too.

Ugly Mugs

Art comes in many forms at Ugly Mugs, from the paintings on the walls to the live music to the coffee itself. After opening Ugly Mugs in 2008, the owners have created a space where several local bakeries can supply their tasty pastries. With comfy booths and the strong scent of Drew’s Brews coffee beans, which are roasted in East Nashville, it is the perfect place to catch up with a friend, knock out some homework, or meet a fellow coffee lover.

The Post

Whether you are gluten-free, vegan, or opt for organic, The Post East presents endless options. While coffee is a huge part of the menu, fresh juice and smoothies are available. Many ingredients used in breakfast dishes and sandwiches are sourced from local farmers. With live music nights and a special Sunday brunch menu, there’s a lot to love about this locally owned café.

Crema

Coffee is treated as an experience at Crema. The story of this café is one of persistence, passion, and a desire to educate. Crema offers intimate coffee classes that teach students the craft of latte art, milk steaming, and more. The shop's unique roasts are also used in nearby Nashville establishments such as Pinewood Social and The 404 Kitchen.

Tin Cup Coffee Co.

With a name that evokes images cowboys’ mess kits and the promise of the American Southwest, Tin Cup’s inviting atmosphere leaves customers feeling like their own cups runneth over. A popular downtown spot for friends to catch up over a cup of coffee, the shop boasts an extensive menu with intriguing dishes like mocha French toast and bánh mì tacos, making it that much more tempting to stay a little longer.

Milk & Honey

After enjoying a satisfying meal at Milk & Honey, step up to its craft coffee and juice bar before exploring the Gulch. Next-level drinks like the smoked s’mores latte or green tea latte are the perfect weekend — or anytime — indulgence.

Barista Parlor

With three Nashville locations each with its own unique vibe, Barista Parlor has established itself as having one of the most robust selection of beans from respected roasters like Four Barrel and Stumptown. Throughout the week, Barista Parlor locations host gatherings for anyone from the hot rod enthusiast to the yogi. Don’t miss Barista Parlor’s artisanal chocolate selection, and find a bar to pair with your beverage.

Steadfast

Steadfast has its cold brew down to a science. It uses a mechanism called “flash chilling” that allows baristas to brew beans with hot water and then immediately chill the coffee to lock in the characteristics of the roast without watering it down with ice. In for something adventurous? Try the shop’s coffee soda, featured on Another Round.

The Well

Much like its brews, The Well’s mission is bold. Founded by a group of coffee-drinking friends, The Well was designed to not only provide neighborhoods with great coffee and a fun atmosphere, but also build clean-water wells in communities in Kenya, Senegal, and beyond. The nonprofit coffeehouse has a rotating assortment of seasonal drinks, like the Ebony & Ivory featured in Another Round.

Humphrey's Street Coffee

When the cost of living in the surrounding neighborhood began to rise, the owners of Humphrey’s Street Coffeehouse looked to provide teens with career opportunities, scholarships, and financial literacy training. Thirteen students have jobs in both the coffeehouse and roastery. But while Humphrey's Street passion for helping its community adds character to its story, it is just one layer. Their baristas aim to give their customers a memorable experience through high-quality coffee. Don’t miss their most popular drink: the French toast latte, a flavored drink with a sweetness that complements the espresso.
