SALUTE THE TROOPS: GRAND OLE OPRY HONORS MILITARY FAMILIES AT SPECIAL TUESDAY NIGHT OPRY

The Grand Ole Opry honored the families of enlisted soldiers last night with two special Salute the Troops Opry performances Tuesday, May 22. The evening’s Opry performances featured performances by Trace Adkins, John Conlee, Lee Greenwood, Chris Janson, Craig Morgan, Kellie Pickler, and Darius Rucker.

During Opry member Darius Rucker’s set, Walmart, 7UP Snapple, Wells Fargo and Military Warriors Support Foundation (MWSF) honored one of our nation’s combat wounded heroes, Former U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Francis Kancir. Kancir was presented with a ceremonial key, to his newly renovated, mortgage-free home located in Clarksville, TN.

Because of inclement weather, the planned red carpet arrivals were cancelled so the Opry, the Tennessee National Guard Family Programs organization, and the USO invited the men and women of the U.S. military as well as spouses, children, and parents of soldiers serving overseas for a special moment to meet with the artists backstage at the Opry House before the 7 pm show. Several artists took time to meet and talk to the families and veterans before the show.
