Grand Ole Opry Throws A Welcome Home Party For "Dancing With The Stars" Winner Kellie Pickler
Nashville, TN — June 04, 2013
The Grand Ole Opry hosted a welcome home party tonight for Dancing With The Stars winner and critically-acclaimed country artist Kellie Pickler, and to the delight of all she was joined by her dance partner Derek Hough. Pickler opened the first of two sold-out Opry shows with three songs, including her current single, “Someone Somewhere Tonight”. Pickler was surprised when the Opry audience held up paddles after her first song of the night giving her a perfect “10”. “Oh my goodness,” Pickler laughed. “Did y’all plan that or did everybody just happen to have those [paddles] in their pocket? That is so sweet. I wish y’all could’ve been the judges!”
Backstage, the celebration included the coveted Dancing With The Stars mirror ball trophy and a one-of-a-kind cake including a depiction of the coveted award on the Opry’s famed circle of wood. Following video highlights of Pickler’s season on the show, the party continued with a toast and presentation from the Opry as well as presentations from the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corporation and Pickler’s record label, Black River Entertainment.
Surrounded by friends, family, and country music colleagues, Pickler said it was good to be home in Nashville, a town in which she’s always wanted to live. “Thanks to everyone here; what a great night,” she smiled.
