Grand Ole Opry to Celebrate with Annual Birthday Bash Weekend October 20 & 21
Jimmy Dickens, Charley Pride, LeAnn Rimes, Ricky Skaggs, Travis Tritt, and Trisha Yearwood Among Those Scheduled For The Party
Nashville, TN — September 27, 2006
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 27, 2006) The Grand Ole Opry® presented by Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® will welcome some of country music’s brightest stars and biggest fans to the Opry House in celebration of its 81st Birthday Oct. 20 and 21. The Opry’s Birthday Bash will include two star-packed Signature Shows both Friday and Saturday nights, Oct. 20 (7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.) and 21 (6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.). Performers already scheduled to appear on Friday include Opry members Jimmy Dickens, Charley Pride, and Ricky Skaggs. Saturday’s shows will include appearances by LeAnn Rimes, Charley Pride, Travis Tritt, and Trisha Yearwood, among many others. A portion of Saturday’s show will air during “Grand Ole Opry Live” on GAC: Great American Country at 7 p.m. Central.
Country Music Hall of Fame member Pride will add to the party with an Opry Birthday Bash Concert Sat., Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. In addition, fans can enjoy a full Saturday of fun, as the Opry Plaza will be overflowing with Birthday activities. Behind-the-scenes tours will give Opry fans an up-close look at the Opry House 8:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. followed by an Opry Birthday Picnic and Benefit Pie Auction at Noon, during which fans will have an opportunity to purchase a dessert that was baked using an Opry member’s recipe. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Opry Trust Fund, which supports those in need in Nashville’s country music community. Opry stars will be on hand to welcome fans to the Birthday Bash outside the Opry House from 3 – 5 p.m.
