Celebrate George Jones' Birthday this Weekend on "Grand Ole Opry Live"
Nashville, TN — September 14, 2006
Opry member and country legend George Jones celebrated his 75th birthday during a performance of the Grand Ole Opry ® on Tues., Sept. 12, and some of country music's favorite artists were on hand for the party. Among the performers that participated in the celebration by singing one of their favorite Jones classics were Dierks Bentley, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jimmy Dickens, Joe Diffie, Sammy Kershaw, Alison Krauss + Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas, Craig Morgan, Joe Nichols, and Tanya Tucker. The artists joined Jones on stage at the end of the show to lead the audience in singing Happy Birthday.
Performances were taped to air during Grand Ole Opry Live on Great American Country (GAC) on Sat., Sept. 16 8:00 pm ET with re-airs on Sept. 17 at 12:00 am, 12:00 pm, and 7:00 pm and also on Sept. 19 at 9:00 pm – all ET.
