Star-Spangled Opry Signature Shows to Celebrate the Red, White, and Blue

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 26, 2006) The Grand Ole Opry® presented by Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® joins America in letting freedom ring by presenting Star Spangled Opry Signature Shows on Sat., July 1 and Tues., July 4. Star Spangled Opry shows will feature uniquely American songs from Opry members as well as special guests.

The celebration spills into the Opry Plaza both nights with Opry Plaza Parties featuring fun, food, and music. Saturday’s Plaza Party will begin at 5:30 p.m. with performances by Darrell Scott and John England and the Western Swingers. Tuesday’s Plaza Party music kicks off at 5:30 p.m. featuring Elizabeth Cook. Face painting and strolling patriotic characters will entertain in the Plaza both nights.

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® and the Opry are also joining forces for the two shows and throughout the summer for a Military Salute featuring dedications and values for military personnel. Fans can submit dedications to active military men and women as well as veterans to be read during Opry performances as Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® Grand Ole Opry Soldier Salutes.  Fans will also be invited to write notes of support to active military or learn about the Wounded Warrior Project during their Star-Spangled Opry visit.

The Opry and Gaylord Opryland Resort have also teamed to create a special “Night at the Opry” package for military personnel including overnight accommodations and preferred Opry seating. Packages are available on select dates throughout the summer by calling 1-888-OPRY-872 and referring to code MILNT. Rates start at $77 per person based on double occupancy, plus tax and daily resort fee. (Extra person and extra night rate available. Some restrictions and blackout dates apply.)

Opry shows are every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday night. Military personnel should mention code MIL10X when making reservations at 1-800-SEE-OPRY (733-6779).

Opry performances can be seen and heard each week on the American Forces Television and Radio Networks.
