WEEK ELEVEN
When Stormy Weather, a country character in her own right, watched the first episode of ABC’s NASHVILLE, she knew it was just the kind of show on which she wanted to dish online at opry.com each week. “Fashion. Young love. Old enemies. The potential for a catfight at every turn. Music born in the songwriting rooms of Music City. What’s not to love?” Stormy asks. Visit this page for Stormy’s unbridled thoughts on each episode as the series takes off and as we’re all introduced to Rayna James, Juliette Barnes, and the rest of the characters that make up NASHVILLE.

Hair… The Only Thing Not Giving Rayna Trouble!
Stormy realizes that Rayna doesn’t want her pity but that’s all Stormy can muster up for the girl. Oh, well, that and some serious hair envy. Stormy l-o-v-e-s Rayna’s hair. You see, good hair is a gift, and Rayna’s got it. At times, it’s the only thing that’s not giving Rayna trouble.
Let’s start with Deacon. He and Rayna, Nashville’s star-crossed lovers, have a history and likely a child together. Rayna’s marriage is hanging on by a thread and where does Deacon show up? On tour with Rayna and Juliette. What does Rayna do now? It’s hard to ignore the 1,000-pound elephant in the room when you’re traveling across the country with him. A different hotel every night. Your husband and two adorable daughters out of sight but not out of mind. How long until Rayna caves? Yeah, there’s a cliffhanger brewing here. Better yet, it’s boiling. Stormy predicts Rayna is going to pull some hair out over Deacon. Hopefully, she’s fortifying with a good conditioner.
As for Deacon, Stormy is glad that man left the Revel Kings and got back in touch with his normal hair. As cute as he may be, that over-gelled too-tall hair wasn’t working.
And then there’s lousy Liam. Can Rayna not get a break? Oh, yeah, Liam stood up to Juliette, and he produced great music for Rayna. But it was all self-serving. No wonder last week’s cowboy boots wouldn’t fit your crooked feet. Rayna trusted you, Liam. To make matters worse, Rayna has to find out that you’re two-timing her, too, at her own party. Rayna’s all Cinderella at Edgehill Records big soiree in her honor only to find out that Liam had his own best interests at heart if he could lure Rayna away from Edgehill. Yet another man Rayna has to wash right out of her hair.
Back at home, there’s troubled Teddy, now Nashville’s Mayor. Teddy’s obviously been a stable thread in Rayna’s life but now he and Rayna have split ends. You can tell by looking that Teddy doesn’t trust Rayna and Deacon as far as he can throw them, either of them, and with good reason. For better or worse, Rayna is sort of stuck with Teddy. She can’t just up and leave him, not even if she wanted to. And Stormy doesn’t think Rayna wants to. Guilt and Rayna are good friends. When the going gets tough, Rayna just pulls those luscious locks into a big ole ponytail, and she does what has to be done. And for the time being, Rayna needs Teddy, the loving father to her daughters. And Nashville needs its first lady.
With all the craziness, Rayna might feel like she wants to curl up and dye . . . just her hair . . . but she’ll push through all the turmoil.
Stormy would be remiss if she didn’t mention angry Avery. Success bites sometimes. Scarlett is rockin’ it with Avery’s old band. It’s like salt on a bad, deep wound to poor Avery who’s finding out that Dominic isn’t all he’s cracked up to be. Avery may have gotten the vintage Mustang but Stormy’s money is on Scarlett. She’s been the dark horse since the first episode, and Stormy predicts this soft-spoken cherub is going to win the race. It’s those quiet ones that you must keep an eye on . . .
