Carrie gets sick in the middle of her tour, cancels a show
Poor Carrie Underwood!
She was clearly sick Friday night (Dec. 14), but Carrie fought through like a champ on stage in Des Moines, Iowa.
Still, Carrie told the crowd she couldn’t keep their money.
“I’ve given everything a million percent, but I’m stll only getting about halfway to where I want to be, and I”m not used to that,” Carrie said, in a moment captured by a fan at the concert.
“I feel real guilty about making any money off this show tonight. So whatever I’m making is just gonna go right back into this community because I feel like that’s the right thing to do.”
Carrie went on to cancel her show Saturday night (Dec. 15) in Kansas City and reschedule that for May 6.
And then she took some cough syrup and climbed into bed. OK, I’m not sure how she treated that illness, but it sounds pretty good, right?
Zac Brown is gonna help John Mayer thank some firefighters
Did you know that Zac Brown is besties with pop star John Mayer?
You might remember that while John was still on voice rest after vocal surgery, John came to Nashville to play guitar for Zac during a riverfront music festival in Music City.
Zac is returning the favor.
John is hosting a big ol’ fundraiser show in Montana to thank firefighters there in battling a monster blaze back in the summer near Bozeman, Mont.
Turns out John has a home in Livingston, Mont., and firefighters saved the house – and hundreds of others – in knocking down a blaze that destroyed more than 8,500 acres of forest and farmland.
So Zac is on the bill for a Jan. 16 show in Montana – and proceeds will go to the dozen or so local fire companies that responded to the Pine Creek Fire.
And that’s really awesome on Zac’s part. And if he really wanted to double extra thank those firefighters, Zac would cook for ‘em!
Brad and Kimberly start the Paisley Challenge to help Haitians
Brad Paisley and his actress wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, recently went down to Haiti with a couple of buddies from Nashville.
And what they saw motivated Brad and Kim to start the Paisley Challenge to help bring clean water to the residents of that poverty-stricken nation.
The couple started it off with a big donation to a program called “Live Beyond. . . . Thirst.”
And they want fans and friends to donate money as well.
One way to donate is through Brad’s website.
“Clean water leads to healthy people,” Brad said, “which leads to less time trying to survive and more time trying to figure out what they want to do with their lives.”
