Kelly Clarkson: Pick Carrie to be “American Idol” judge

J-Lo quit, Steven Tyler’s back to Aerosmith: Randy Jackson is getting lonely on the American Idol judges panel, dawg!!

Hey, what if the show picked one of its past winners to be a judge??

Kelly Clarkson says she’s out. Kelly enjoyed being a participant/mentor for new ABC show Duets. But no judging for her.

Kelly tells US Weekly, though, that she loves the idea of fellow winner Carrie Underwood being an Idol judge.

Carrie’s No. 1 qualifier?

“She can have that face…that bluff face!” Kelly says. “She can put that on! She would be good.”

No reaction yet from Carrie’s camp. Maybe Carrie’s too busy putting on her bluff face. (What is that, BTW??)

Rascal Flatts’ Jay flies to Nashville, delivers baby, flies back to sing

OK, you know those had to be some expensive airplane tix.

Jay DeMarcus was in Detroit Friday (July 20) with his two other Rascal Flatts’ buddies for a show that night.

But Jay found out that morning that his wife – CMT personality Allison DeMarcus – was in labor. So Jay hopped on a plane to Nashville to help welcome baby boy Dylan Jay DeMarcus, who weighed in at 7 pounds 11 ounces.

Then Jay, still in his scrubs, jumped on another plane, flew back to Detroit and hit the stage for the show – still in his scrubs. At least the guys didn’t have to scrub the show.

Mazel tov!

Taylor wins the most surf boards at Teen Choice Awards

Yup, she got more surf boards than her pop superstar buddy Justin Bieber. She got more surf boards than any one actor in any vampire or werewolf movie.

Taylor Swift dominated the Teen Choice Awards Sunday night (July 22) with wins in five categories, including the all-genre Choice Female Artist. Taylor also was the only artist to win every category where she received a nomination.

And I could go on, folks. Taylor now has a career total of 20 Teen Choice Awards, the highest for any female in any field.

Surf’s up, people!!

“I just feel so honored that I get to have you guys in my life,” Taylor told her fans on the show, seen nationwide on the Fox network.

In addition to Choice Female Artist, Taylor won for Choice Movie Voice (for Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax), Choice Single by a Female Artist (“Eyes Open”), Choice Country Artist, and Choice Country Song (“Sparks Fly”).
