Will Taylor play Joni Mitchell in her first major movie role?
Taylor Swift recently told a newspaper in the Phillippines that she is reading scripts like crazy to find that role that will totally consume her. Like what? Well, Taylor says she loves Jennifer Lawrence’s portrayal of female lead Katniss in The Hunger Games.
Looks like Taylor might’ve found such a role – but it’s no fictional character.
Taylor might be lined up to portray another amazing singer/songwriter on the big screen. Variety reports that producers are considering her for the role of ‘60s/’70s folkie Joni Mitchell (“The Circle Game,” “Woodstock”) for a movie about Mitchell, Carole King and Carly Simon.
The movie is based on a book about the three called Girls Like Us, and the film could start shooting later this year.
But no final decisions have been made – not even the one to make the movie.
Stay tuned.
Kenny, The Band Perry, Zac Brown Band will each play Today’s summer series
Yeah, yeah, sure Justin Bieber and Usher are booked.
But NBC’s Today show won’t leave out country music for its annual summer concert series. After all, wouldn’t it be fun to see Matt Lauer in a plaid snap-button shirt, jeans and boots?
He’ll get the chance June 1 with The Band Perry, June 22 with Kenny Chesney or July 13 with the Zac Brown Band.
And there might be an outside outside outside chance we’ll see Blake Shelton June 29 on Today when his Voice bestie Adam Levine appears with Maroon 5.
Just sayin’ . . . .

Ousted Idol contestant Colton Dixon gives Carrie Underwood some love
And that started when Carrie Underwood gave American Idol Colton Dixon some love when Colton got the boot last week (April 18).
Carrie tweeted that she was shocked that Colton was ousted. Then, Carrie tweeted to Colton:
Colton told reporters Friday (April 20) that he loves that Carrie mentioned God.
“You know, she has done so well since American Idol and I love that she doesn’t shy away from her faith, either,” he said.
“So, it’s nice to see someone doing what I want to do away from the show give me good encouragement, and it was amazing to see that and I really do appreciate it.”
Good chance that these two might get to meet in person. Colton is a rocker in a place called Nashville, Tenn. Maybe Carrie can show him ‘round the Grand Ole Opry House.
