Keith Urban Shares About His Vocal Surgery Experience, Casey James Surprises Fans, And More!

This week on America’s Opry Weekend, Keith Urban shares his experience of what it was like for him and his family while he was recently on vocal rest. He says that not singing for that period of time was not nearly as hard as not being able to talk, especially to his three-year-old daughter, Sunny. He could write notes to everybody except for her and it was hard for her to understand. “That was hard, but before I went on vocal rest, I have a cassette deck, an actual, real cassette deck. And I recorded several books onto this cassette tape,” tells Keith. “I would take that up and read to her at night by pressing the ‘play’ button and looking. She would hit the stop button and go, ‘I want you to read it!’” This part of his career was a challenge, but Keith is back! He performed for the first time since his surgery at Opry at the Ryman on February 3, and will make a second appearance at the Opry House on March 9. Click here for tickets!

Also this week, Casey James informed us that he gave his fans an extra surprise on the night of his debut, January 27. He had a lot of fans who traveled a great distance to see him make his debut and they had all planned on meeting at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville downtown before the show. “So I went over there and surprised them all, because they were just all hanging out. It was absolutely phenomenal,” says Casey. “I mean, there were a lot of folks that had flown from all over the country to come see this evening’s two songs. It’s just overwhelming. I mean, it’s times like this I couldn’t be more thankful. I don’t even know what to say, you know?” Casey will be back on the Opry stage on March 16. Click here for tickets!

We have video and photos of Casey surprising the fans on the website http://www.thecaseyjamesblog.com if anyone would like to see it. The 50+ fans who were there will never forget how Casey made his Opry debut such a special occasion for them.

So happy for Keith that his vocal surgery was a success and he is back to what he loves to do. Wish I could have been there at the Opry to see Keith perform….I am sure it was awesome! Now if only the Opry would extend the offer to Keith to become a member of the Opry…I am quite sure that would complete Keith’s music career for him….he deserves it!

I fail to understand why Keith Urban hasn’t already been invited to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry. He promotes country music everywhere he goes; he came half way around the world to be a part of Nashville’s Country Music scene because that’s “all he ever really wanted to do.” It was his dream. He has realized that dream now and overcome many obstacles to become the country music star he is today. Yet, there’s one thing missing and that is to be inducted into the Grand Ole Opry. I will lose a lot of respect for the Grand Ole Opry if they choose to ignore this multi-talented country music performer and never give him the honor that he so rightly deserves.. In my opinion, there is no one who is a better, more positive representative of the country music industry than Keith Urban. He lives and breathes it. He writes country music; he sings counry music and he tears up a guitar, as well as many other instruments, playing country music. What more can you ask for?

Keith Urban needs to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry. It is long overdue. HE is everywhere and doing all kinds of things for Nashville, kids, Tennessee, and his fans. He has my vote. And while on the subject of someone who deserves some accolades from the country music industry, give a loud shout for Gary Allan. He is very much under appreciated. He should be a part of CMA Music Festival, not on the outskirts. I love Gary and Keith.
