Lee Brice and Kip Moore Are Excited About New Music, Dierks Bentley Says The Opry Is As Good As It Gets, And More!

Friday, April 27th, 2012

This week on America’s Opry Weekend, Lee Brice talks about his brand new album released on Tuesday, Hard 2 Love. “I’m just so proud of it. Now, I’m just excited for people to hear it. And hopefully they like it as much as I do,” Lee says. “…It’s my heart and soul, so I’m really, really excited about this thing.”

Here he is with his first single from his new album, “A Woman Like You” live on the Opry stage.

Kip Moore also released an album this week, Up All Night. His first single, “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck” is climbing the charts but he is excited for the rest of the album as well. “I’m so anxious for people to hear the depth of this record, and the honesty and emotion that’s in this record,” says Kip. “I poured everything I had into it, and I’m hoping to really leave people with an honest emotion when they get done hearing the record as a whole.”

As for Opry member, Dierks Bentley, playing the Opry is about as good as it gets. “It’s always the most important show you’re going to play, you know, that week, that month. It’s just, it’s a big deal to be out here,” explains Dierks. “It’s a big change from the road, from your live show. It’s so different playing in this building and this room.”

Here he is with “Home” live on the Opry stage.

Kellie Pickler Shares Her Favorite Thing About The Opry, Rodney Atkins Likes To Pull At Heart Strings, And More!

Thursday, April 5th, 2012

This week on America’s Opry Weekend, Kellie Pickler shares with us one of her favorite things about performing on the Opry stage. “You never know who is standing on the side of the stage. I’ve been up there before and looked over and seen artists that were not even playing that night. They were just here, to watch the show,” says Kellie. “It’s just so wild to be in that kind of company. I mean, it’s not every day you get to share the stage with Vince Gill, you know.”

Here she is on the Opry during a recent visit with “Stop Cheatin’ On Me” from her new album, 100 Proof.

Also, this week Rodney Atkins tells us that he likes to keep his music videos simple, but wants them to tug at people’s heart strings a little. He thinks that his video for his latest single “He’s Mine” will do just that. “When you’re a kid, when you’re a little boy and you have a little bit of an edge about you and you’re kind of fearless at times, those are the kids that I met when I was in Afghanistan,” says Rodney. “That’s what they turn into. They’re the firefighters, they’re the policemen, they’re the heroes out there.”

Be sure to listen for his new single, catch his new video, and get tickets here to see him on the Opry May 1.

Garth Brooks In The Same Hall As His Heroes, Luke Bryan Knows How To Have Fun, And More!

Friday, March 30th, 2012

This week on America’s Opry Weekend, Opry member Garth Brooks shares his thoughts on being an inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame later this year. “You always want to be mentioned in the same breath as George Strait and Reba McEntire. Those are my two heroes that I grew up with . . . Haggard, Jones,” says Garth. “Now, you’re going to get to be in the same Hall with them? But make no mistake: I don’t feel like I’m on that level. But it’s pretty cool to have your name listed with them.”

Also, this week Luke Bryan shares that he is having the time of his life on stage and making dreams come true. “When I get out on stage, I want people to know and feel that I’m having as much fun as I really am having. It’s a blessing to get to do this, and country music’s been very, very good to me,” says Luke. “So, yeah, I’m really, really loving being out on stage. And coming out and playing on the Opry is always a dream come true for me.”

Kip Moore Is Cruising On A Wild Trip, Josh Turner Has A Message For You, And More!

Friday, March 16th, 2012

This week on America’s Opry Weekend, Kip Moore is getting his first taste of having a hit record. The Georgia native co-wrote a couple of songs on Thompson Square’s debut album (on the Opry April 13). He is now touring with Billy Currington and David Nail and experiencing first-hand his own single, “Somethin’ Bout A Truck” climbing the charts. “I’ve been touring non-stop since last year, and it’s feeling good right now. Everywhere we’re going, everybody’s singing the song,” Kip says. “It’s a neat thing, because it’s not like I’m playing ‘Free Bird,’ you know what I mean? I’m playing something I wrote. So it’s a wild trip.”

Here he is in his new video, for his current single “Somethin’ Bout A Truck”

Also this week, Josh Turner shares his feelings toward his most recent single, “Time is Love,” which has a message he has wanted to sing for a long time.  “I try to make sure that it’s something I am going to enjoy singing, whether it ends up on the radio or not,” Josh says. “This is one of those songs. It just really jumped out a grabbed me from the very first listen. It was just kind of a no-brainer. I didn’t have to live with it like I have to do with, you know, some songs.” Don’t miss him on the Opry Saturday, April 21. Click here to see full line-up and purchase tickets.

There Are Some People Crazier Than Eddie Montgomery, Josh Turner Is Making Birthday Wishes Come True, And More!

Wednesday, March 7th, 2012

This week on America’s Opry Weekend, Montgomery Gentry admits that they have had some wild and crazy times, but there are some even crazier. “You know, we’ve had some wild times and crazy times on our buses and stuff – we ain’t lyin’ . . . but, I’m tellin’ you what, there ain’t nobody no crazier than them bull riders, man,” says Eddie Montgomery. The duo wasn’t sure if they could keep up when they went on tour with the Professional Championship Bullriders. “Them boys are crazy, getting on them two- and three-ton bulls and going out through the middle of it. I tell you what, just to see ‘em, man, don’t want no part of it . . . And I tell you what – I can’t drink enough Jim Beam to try to get on one.” The two rebels on the run will be back at the Opry Friday, April 6. Get your tickets here.

Until then, here they are performing their latest single, “Where I Come From”

Also, this week Josh Turner almost serenades the wrong girl when singing ‘Happy Birthday’. “One of the security guards had handed me a note when I walked in tonight with, like, five names of these girls,” says Josh. “And it said Happy Birthday at the beginning of the sentence. . . I just assumed that all five of these girls had a birthday tonight. . . I figured out, process of elimination, that it was just one of the girls’ birthdays, and the rest of them were just with her. . .They were having a good time at the Opry.” Josh also always has a good T.I.M.E. on the Opry.

Here he is performing with Randy Travis with their song “T.I.M.E.” during Randy Travis’ 25th Opry Anniversary.

Keith Urban Explains More Pains From The ‘Silent Treatment’, Kip Moore’s Life is Changing, And More!

Wednesday, February 29th, 2012

This week on America’s Opry Weekend, Keith Urban had a hard time being understood and getting his mood across while trying to be silent for three weeks after his vocal surgery. “You almost have to over-exaggerate facial expressions to let them know that you’re in a good mood,” explains Keith. “The ‘silent treatment’ is a thing for a particular reason. Because you don’t know what’s going on, right? That’s why we do the ‘silent treatment.’ So when you have to have it for three weeks, I nodded a lot. I noticed that just to nod lightly is not enough.” Keith shares that if he didn’t nod dramatically then he risked being misunderstood. “After two weeks, I was in the shower, and I was, like, ‘My neck is so sore!’ And that’s why.” Keith will be back on the Opry on March 9.

Be sure to get your tickets here and until then here he is performing “You Look Good in my Shirt.”

Also this week, Kip Moore’s current single, “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck” is changing his life, but some of his fans followed him when he placed videos on YouTube, many years before getting his record deal. “People are showing up from all over, and it’s all because of this song,” says Kip. “But there’s a lot of other people that are following, and have been following me for years and hearing all the stuff coming out on YouTube. . . They’re calling out all the obscure songs that, you know, nobody’s really heard yet. So it’s a neat little underground swell that’s happening.” Listen for some of these other songs on his debut album, Up All Night, to be released this Spring.

Keith Urban Shares About His Vocal Surgery Experience, Casey James Surprises Fans, And More!

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012

This week on America’s Opry Weekend, Keith Urban shares his experience of what it was like for him and his family while he was recently on vocal rest. He says that not singing for that period of time was not nearly as hard as not being able to talk, especially to his three-year-old daughter, Sunny. He could write notes to everybody except for her and it was hard for her to understand. “That was hard, but before I went on vocal rest, I have a cassette deck, an actual, real cassette deck. And I recorded several books onto this cassette tape,” tells Keith. “I would take that up and read to her at night by pressing the ‘play’ button and looking. She would hit the stop button and go, ‘I want you to read it!’” This part of his career was a challenge, but Keith is back! He performed for the first time since his surgery at Opry at the Ryman on February 3, and will make a second appearance at the Opry House on March 9. Click here for tickets!

Also this week, Casey James informed us that he gave his fans an extra surprise on the night of his debut, January 27. He had a lot of fans who traveled a great distance to see him make his debut and they had all planned on meeting at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville downtown before the show. “So I went over there and surprised them all, because they were just all hanging out. It was absolutely phenomenal,” says Casey. “I mean, there were a lot of folks that had flown from all over the country to come see this evening’s two songs. It’s just overwhelming. I mean, it’s times like this I couldn’t be more thankful. I don’t even know what to say, you know?” Casey will be back on the Opry stage on March 16. Click here for tickets!

Brad Paisley Is Impressing “Important People,” Edens Edge Is Keeping Tally Marks, And More!

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

This week on America’s Opry Weekend, Brad Paisley, who celebrated his 10th Opry Anniversary last year, tells us that becoming a member was at the top of his goal list. “I always wanted to be a member here. That was my goal. I think more than anything – more than even winning Entertainer of the Year or selling records … all of that was sort of secondary,” Brad says. “It was like, ‘If I could just be a member of the Opry, I’ll know that I’ve made it in the eyes of some very important people.”

Here are some of Brad’s highlights at the Opry in his 10th Anniversary video.

Brad had the opportunity to introduce the trio, Edens Edge, to the Opry stage last year and now they cannot believe how many times they have been able to come back and play. “You know, it would be so cool to look at the calendar and see how many times we’ve been here,” Dean says. “I’ve been counting the Ryman, for sure. I need to count all of them together. Over the years, it’d be cool to keep a tally of that somewhere, just to make sure you can see how many times we’ve gotten to play here. And every single time is like, ‘oh, my gosh, that happened.’. . . And for that to be in a tally-mark list is kind of crazy to think about.”

Here is Edens Edge performing, “Amen.”

Charlie Daniels Is Giving Out Advice, Steve Wariner Has Many Talents, And More!

Wednesday, February 8th, 2012

This week on America’s Opry Weekend, Charlie Daniels gives Justin Moore some advice on his first and every visit to the Opry. “Charlie Daniels told me the first time I came here that if you don’t get nervous to be here, you ought not be here,” tells Justin. “Soo… every time you come to the Opry, or every time I come to the Opry, it’s one of the only places I get nervous . . . especially the Ryman Auditorium.”

Also this week, Opry member Steve Wariner is delighted that fellow Opry star, Clint Black, asked him to produce his upcoming album.  The two have done work together in the past and are excited to come together again. “The last stuff I cut with Clint was at Capitol Studios in Hollywood. That’s the last time I recorded with him. We did ‘Been There,’ ‘Nothing But The Taillights’ and some other tunes,” says Steve. “I love working with Clint. So I’m tickled and delighted that he asked me to produce this record.”

Here is Steve Wariner showing off his skills during the Opry Guitar Jam with his buddies Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, and more.

Waylon Jennings is honored in this week’s America’s Opry Weekend, as Marty Stuart, Travis Tritt, and Hank Williams Jr. sing “Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way,” the song they performed on the Opry the Saturday after Waylon’s passing 10 years ago.

Rodney Atkins Prays For Songs That Are Larger Than Life, Jason Aldean At The Grammys, and More!

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

This week on America’s Opry Weekend, Rodney Atkins shares a few of the responses he has received from his hit single “Take a Back Road.”  He believes the song has many different meanings if you take the time to think about it. The song “can hit you right between the eyes, you know, just roll the windows down, crank it up. Or the song has the metaphor of the unbeaten path. It’s the reason you want to veer off and follow your dreams and chase your dreams . . . when you get off the beaten path, sometimes is when you see things a little bit differently . . .” Other meanings of the song include the emails that Rodney has received from chemotherapy patients who play “Take a Back Road” as a theme song on the way to treatment.  “The songs that become larger than life are the ones that you pray for,” Rodney explains.

Click here to listen to the song.

Rodney will be back on the Opry March 13.  Until then, here he is performing “Watching You.”

Also this week, Jason Aldean gears up for the GRAMMY Awards and expresses what an honor it would be to win a Grammy. “I think a Grammy win to anybody’s career is a huge honor. That’s something you carry with you for the rest of your career,” says Jason. He is scheduled to perform during the awards and is up for three Grammys this year including Best Country Solo Performance for “Dirt Road Anthem,” Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Don’t You Wanna Stay,” and Best Country Album for My Kinda Party, certainly a big one for Jason. “That album’s going to be around long after I’m not. And that was something that we worked really hard on and I felt like it was great,” says Jason. “We got a chance to put it out and people reacted to it the way they did and it was a huge success. And obviously this nomination is proof of that. So I think album, to me, is a big one.”
