Charlie Robison
Guest Artist
Singer/songwriter Charlie Robison was born in Houston, Texas. He and his younger brother, fellow singer/songwriter Bruce, grew up on their family's ranch in the town of Bandera.
The atmosphere was perfect for absorbing the music he heard on the local honky tonk scene. In addition, his musical influences included artists ranging from Black Sabbath to Gram Parsons to Bruce Springsteen to Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark. At the age of 15, Robison discovered the thriving music scene in nearby Austin, inspiring him to write his own music. To do so, he drew from both rock and country. His early career also included performing in the bands Chaparral and Two Hoots & a Holler before joining the Millionaire Playboys, Austin's all-star ensemble. Robison contributed to albums by Alejandro Escovedo and Kelly Willis, his sister-in-law. In 1995, Robison embarked on a solo career with Bandera. He would follow it three years later with Life of the Party. In 2000, Robison collaborated with brother Bruce and another Texan, Jack Ingram, on Unleashed Live.
Robison released Step Right Up in 2001. Good Times, released in 2004, is the work of a reflective artist, one whose music has more depth and range than ever.
