Patti Page

Guest Artist

Born Clara Ann Fowler in Muskogee, Okla., Patti Page began singing professionally at a radio station in Tulsa.  After being billed as Patti Page for a program sponsored by Page Milk, she decided to perform using that very name. Patti made her way to Chicago in 1947, where she sang in a small-group outing by Benny Goodman.  Mercury signed her to a recording contract and "Confess," her first big single, followed.  Page made history with the song by becoming the first pop artist to overdub harmony vocals onto her own lead vocal.

Page's first million-seller was "With My Eyes Wide Open I'm Dreaming."  In 1950, "All My Love" spent several weeks at No. 1; it was her first No. 1 hit.  That same year, Page recorded the classic "Tennessee Waltz."  To this day, it remains the biggest selling hit of her career.

She topped the charts yet again with "I Went to Your Wedding" and "The Doggie in the Window." Her popularity was at its peak when she starred in her own television program in 1955, The Patti Page Show.  Soon, she was a movie star with roles in In the Land of Hi Fi and Manhattan Tower. In 1956, she released "Allegheny Moon" followed by "Old Cape Cod." Page also recorded the theme to the 1965 film Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte.
