Alecia Nugent

Guest Artist

Alecia Nugent, the pride of Hickory Grove, LA, combines the best of all her musical heroes for a sound that's been hailed as one of bluegrass music's emerging voices.

Nugent made her debut in 2004 with her self-titled project.  An early bluegrass festival performance with Grammy®-winning producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Carl Jackson formed a lasting bond.  Jackson is not only Nugent's producer but a frequent song collaborator as well. It also attracted the attention of famed WSM disc jockey and Grand Ole Opry announcer Eddie Stubbs, who became a booster.  Rounder Records also took note, signing Nugent and released A Little Girl...A Big Four-Lane in 2006.

In 2009, Nugent captured her unique sound on Hillbilly Goddess, a title she proudly embodies and embraces.  With Jackson once again at the helm, Hillbilly Goddess has one, too, a classic-sounding heartbreaker titled "The Writing's All Over the Wall." As before, Nugent proves she can rip off a zippy bluegrass romp with ease-the feisty-female "Wrecking the Train" and the tongue-in-cheek "Cryin' All the Way to the Bank," to name just two examples on the new album.

Nugent may have traveled a long way from her Louisiana roots, but they can be heard and felt in this hillbilly goddess' music.
