Tracy Lawrence
Guest Artist
Tracy Lawrence was born Jan. 27, 1968, in Atlanta, Texas, and raised in Arkansas. He drew from a rich musical heritage that included such Southern rockers as Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top as well as country traditionalists George Strait and Merle Haggard. He earned his performing stripes by touring the area's bars, honky tonks, and jamborees when he was barely old enough to drive.
After signing a recording contract just months after arriving in Nashville, Lawrence released his first album, Sticks and Stones, in 1991. It yielded three No. 1 hits and one Top 10 hit. His debut album went platinum, setting the tone for the rest of his career. Lawrence has two platinum albums and two double-platinum albums for 1996's Time Marches On and 1993's Alibis, respectively. He was named the Academy of Country Music's Top New Male Vocalist in 1993.
In 2000, he released Lessons Learned, his first album in more than two years. He released his self-titled album in 2001. In 2004, he released the album Strong which included the hit "Paint Me a Birmingham." He re-recorded his hits in 2005 for his final project on the DreamWorks label. Since then, Tracy has released a Christmas album and opened his own label, Rocky Comfort. In 2009, he released the inspirational album The Rock, which received a Grammy® nomination for Best Southern, Country, or Bluegrass Gospel Album.
