Born in Valdosta, Georgia, Rhett Akins embraced the aspect of a true country boy from playing in the muddy river banks to breaking every bone in his body three times as a football player. Akins' songs reflect the avid outdoorsman, father, and everyday man he is. The connection with his audience is evident when he performs as his fans sing along to every word.
In 1995, Akins made his chart debut while opening for Reba McEntire. His success ignited as he wrote songs that topped the Billboard charts for recording artists including Brooks & Dunn, Chris Cagle, and more. Some of his hits include “That Ain’t My Truck,” “She Said Yes” and “Don’t Get Me Started.”
Akins' latest album, People Like Me, captures the essence of truth in everyday people. His main idea was to show his honesty through his music while impacting his fans. “I wear a hat, T-shirt, boots and ragged blue jeans and I want to sing real songs,” Akins says.
