The Grand Ole Opry Goes to the Big Apple

Tickets for November 14 Carnegie Hall Show Go On Sale September 19
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 13, 2005) Tickets for the Grand Ole Opry’s special Nov. 14 show at New York’s Carnegie Hall, the culmination of the Opry’s 80th Anniversary Celebration, will go on sale Mon., Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. Eastern. Previously announced Opry members Trace Adkins, Vince Gill, Alison Krauss and Union Station, Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Charley Pride, and Ricky Skaggs will perform alongside new additions to the prestigious line-up: Bill Anderson, Little Jimmy Dickens, Martina McBride, and Trisha Yearwood. The show will be aired live on 650 WSM-AM, Stream 137 on Sirius Satellite Radio and www.opry.com.


“It is hard to describe the sense of anticipation that is building around this historic event. The combination of these two American icons, the Grand Ole Opry and Carnegie Hall, will create a truly magical evening and a once-in-a-lifetime memory,” stated Steve Buchanan, Gaylord Entertainment senior vice president.

Opry legends Ernest Tubb and Minnie Pearl first performed at Carnegie Hall in 1947, and Pearl made a triumphant return to the venue in Nov. 1961 as a member of a full Opry troupe that also included Patsy Cline, Grandpa Jones, the Jordanaires, Bill Monroe, Jim Reeves, Marty Robbins and Faron Young.


The 80th Anniversary Show at Carnegie Hall falls on the eve of the Country Music Association Awards in New York City and is part of the week-long “Country Takes New York” series of events. The Opry Carnegie Hall show is produced and presented by Gaylord Entertainment and Ron Delsener Presents.
