Fall is Special Because...

Some of your favorite country stars have shared with opry.com what makes Tennessee special in the fall.

Richie McDonald (Lonestar)

My favorite thing about fall in Tennessee has to be without a doubt the changing of the leaves. The colors are so vivid with bright reds and oranges and browns and yellows. It truly is beautiful!

Joe Nichols

I love fall in Tennessee for all the colors. It has to be one of the best states to be in to watch the trees turn colors – it’s simply beautiful.

Bill Anderson

The fall colors and the "bite" in the air after a long, hot summer. I am a boater, and there's nothing I enjoy more than cruising the Tennessee lakes and rivers looking at the foliage. It's always pretty, but some years it is absolutely spectacular.

Dean Sams (Lonestar)

Tennessee has the most beautiful fall weather. No humidity!

Ray Scott

My favorite thing about fall in Tennessee is going out to those first Titans football games. I count the days 'til football season.

Jeannie Seely

My favorite thing about fall in Tennessee is that it reminds me of my home where I grew up and of my home now, where I'm still growing! And I love to be on my deck as it gets cooler with a fire burning, smelling the wood and the leaves and watching the river go by and looking up at the sky and 'thanking my lucky stars'! And fall means I don't have to iron again until next spring.

Hank Locklin

My favorite thing about fall in Tennessee is the Opry Birthday Celebration.

T. Bubba Bechtol

The Smoky Mountains, in the late fall is the most beautiful place on earth to me.

Trent Willmon

My favorite thing about fall in Tennessee is the weather. Growing up in Texas, it goes from summer to winter pretty quickly, so it's nice to be able to enjoy fall for awhile here – it’s a beautiful time of year.

Brian Prout (Diamond Rio)

Whether it’s upstate New York, or here in Tennessee, fall still represents to me a season of change. A season that gives us time to reflect on the past year as we prepare for the winter months ahead. Instead of the parties on the lake or the cookouts on the patio, or going to the beach, we take a walk in the woods or a drive through the mountains to see all of the magnificent colors of the trees that are ever changing. They will soon die and fall off of the tree and lay dormant for the winter. But come the spring, they will rise up again. Fall will always have a spiritual meaning to me in many ways beyond any other change of seasons.

Elizabeth Cook

Moving to Tennessee after college, I fell in love with the changing of the trees, the pulling out of the favorite old sweater, and maybe an extra cup of coffee in the early morning fog. Pulling down Opryland drive in a sea of bright yellow and red is something I look forward to every year. It's a time of reflection and tranquility, the mark of another summer's end, and a promise of changes to come. A time when nature takes its deserved spot on center stage.
